Prostate enlargement treatment? My grandfather has an enlarged prostate . He is 80 yrs old. The main symptoms are frequent urination in small amounts, urgency to urinate, he cant have a sound sleep at night. We have come across two treatments, one is surgery ( TURP ) and the other is Prostate artery embolisation(PAE) in which the prostate artery will be blocked to reduce the blood flow to the prostate so that it shrinks
in size and the symptoms are relieved
But this is a new procedure and we arent sure about its success. If anybody of u have undergone such treatment or know someone who has undergone such treatment pls do answer that whether it is a good treatment and is it successful? Will the symptoms be relieved ? Are there any side effects as an artery would be blocked? Pls do reply.
He as taken many ayurvedic medicines and homeopathic medicines . His prostate size was 180g but now it is just 130 g , but the symptoms are still there and he cant sleep soundly at night.

[display_name id=”0″]Any abnormalities with your prostate must not be left unattended and checked. They may be indications that cancer cells are growing or worse, spreading. The prostate gland is part of a male reproductive system. It keeps the fluid that contains the sperm released during ejaculation. The gland surrounds your urethra, which is where urine passes out.

One of the abnormalities that can happen to prostate gland is when prostate gland enlarges. Enlarged prostate gland is also called BPH or benign prostatic hypertrophy or hyperplasia. This can happen to a lot of men and cause problems in urination and in the bladder. It is, however, not considered cancer or a factor that can increase your risk for prostate cancer.

What causes enlarged prostate? Unfortunately, it is still unknown. However, there are studies that point to factors such as aging and testicles-related conditions that may promote the enlargement of the prostate. Men whose testicles were removed when they were young as a result of testicular cancer will not develop BPH. On the other hand, those who had testicles removed after BPH will have their prostate shrinking in size.

In addition, the chance of developing prostate cancer is directly proportional with age. This condition is so common that all men who live long enough will have enlarged prostate at a time in their life. Most men age 40 and above will also experience minor prostate enlargement.

The symptoms of enlarged prostate are delayed urinary stream, weak urination, dribbling after urinating, a sudden strong urge to urinate, partial emptying of bladder, need to urinate two or more times a night, incontinence or excretion, and also pain while urinating and presence of blood. The digital rectal exam or DRE is the test commonly used to detect enlarged prostate.

Enlarged prostate is usually treated with watchful waiting, lifestyle change, surgery, or medication. There are ways for you to prevent this difficult situation. If you notice some mild symptoms, you can follow the following guidelines to apply self-care for prevention.

You must not keep your urine when you feel the urge to urinate. Try to avoid alcohol and caffeine and drink your fluids at intervals during the day. Also try to avoid cold and sinus medications like decongestants and antihistamines, as they can increase your BPH symptoms. Also, exercise regularly to reduce stress, nervousness, and tension, which can affect your urination.…
